The VIBRO Projects Bottom Feed Stone Column system provides high production rates of 400 to 800m per shift. The technique utilises a hollow steel tube driven into the ground by a top mounted hydraulic vibrator. The vibrator is driven from a power pack mounted on the rear of the machine.
How It Works
Aggregate for the process is held in a hopper around the tube just above ground level.
As the vibroflo tube penetrates into the ground it passes through the stone hopper and fills under gravity with aggregate through slots formed along the length of the tube. When the required treatment depth is reached, the tube is withdrawn allowing stone to immediately flow out from steel flaps at the base.
The vibroflo tube is re-lowered which then compacts the previously placed stone. This operation is repeated in controlled increments all the way to the surface - constructing a dense, clean, uncontaminated stone column interlocking with the surrounding soil.
Suitable Applications
Unstable soils that are unsuitable for top feed
Very soft clays/silts - shear strength >20kPa
Made ground containing less than 15% degradable/organic content of the fill mass
Buildings with total long term settlement tolerances of >10mm
